2 or 3 wires helically wound to form a single element. The Ply wire strand shall consist of two or three wires of the same nominal diameter, spun together in helical form over a theoretical common axis with a lay length of 14 to 22 times.

The strand shall include a straight central wire, called a core or king wire around which six wires are spun in one layer. The outer wires shall be tightly spun around the central wire with a lay length between 14 and 18 times the nominal strand
